Wait, that's my side of the bed!
You'd never know we don't own a dog from the number we've had hanging around this Spring. We had Casey from Christmas until May, while Betsy and Rish were selling one house and moving to another. Then we also had Loki, not just on the weekends when Ed was in Windsor visiting Beth but also for the three or four weeks while he was getting packed up to move and his apartment was being shown.
This is what I would find when I came out of the shower every morning. They sometimes tried this with me in the bed as well, but I can shove a 70 or 80 pound deadweight dog off the bed pretty easily.

On the other hand, it's not a bad way to wake up Bill.

If you've ever looked at photos of dog behavior, you'll recognize that Casey is in the classic "let's play" posture.

Loki looks like he's won a round.

But Casey has the lead on the next one.

Mealtime was a challenge, because Loki will gladly push Casey aside and eat all his food while Casey is still tucking his napkin in under his collar and thanking us for feeding him. We finally discovered that the trick was to toss Loki's food down the back stairs and then quick shut the door while we fed Casey. Even though Loki had to scramble up and down the stairs to find all his food, he was always done long before Casey.

This is another of the many things, along with sleeping on the bed and sitting on the couch, that Casey is only allowed to do at Grandma's house. For a long time the two of them only wanted to play tug if I was also pulling on a section. But I finally convinced them they could play without me.
(That's Sue's wonderful new painting on the coffee table).

Oh, and then there was Henry. Henry belongs to Janet, but at Janet's house they were getting new ceilings and floors in the dining room and living room and besides the fact that Henry wasn't allowed in those rooms, there were lots of fumes. So we had Henry for a few nights too.

Getting the dogs organized for a walk was something of a challenge. Even once we get them all leashed and down the steps, they aren't necessarily eager to get into team formation.

And once they are in team formation, of course they're moving too fast and I'm juggling too many things to get a photo that's actually in focus.

Visitors were sometimes a little overwhelmed. But not Liz, who after all lives with two dogs all the time.

I really do love this. Though perhaps I should changed out of my best black suit before I sat down and let them climb all over me.
