Ed Jeske and John Hern are long time friends of the AIDS Legal Council. Ed had just retired from his position as chief meeting planner for the American Dental Association (40,000 attendees) when he came in and asked if we needed any volunteer help. We were starting to plan the first national HIV Law conference. He took over. It was such a success that we've repeated it every two years since then and he's continued with the planning, even though the last conference was in New Orleans and this one was in Portland. All that and they took me and Mirta, one of our staff attorneys, out to dinner at this lovely restaurant. Oysters!
